Photogrammetry by Smartphone – [Android experiment]

In this post I will teach you to rebuild a 3d model from the photos you took with your smartphone. The technique I will use involves photographic shots taken from three different height. In this case you will notice that the definition does not depend on the megapixels but on the size of the sensor.
The software processes 53 photos at a resolution of 8 megapixels.

Rotate the object freely inside the window to appreciate every single detail.

Model Editing: Export in meshlab, Import in PhotoScan

Reconstruction and Model Editing: Export/Import to optimize a mesh - Agisoft Coaching

In this post I will show you how to Decimate and Export a model in external software for surface editing. Finally I will reimport the object into PhotoScan for final texturing.
The software processes 64 photos at a resolution of 24 megapixels.

Invert Faces Orientation

Gradonated in archaeological area, object of inversion of orientation of the faces. (Gradonata in area archeologica, oggetto di inversione di orientamento delle facce.)

In this tutorial, I have solved the problem of orientation posed by the user Paolo about the reversed faces in erroneous texture mapping reconstruction; We also improved the quality of the meshes which is made up of an excessive number of faces, stretched and deformed at some points. The software processed 15 photos at a resolution of 16 megapixels.

Merging Chunks

In this post I’ll explain how to process two separate chunks, which represent the two halves of the model. In this case I chose to rebuild a fish, to evaluate the accuracy of the software in matching two complex geometries. The software manages 10 photos taken with a resolution of 24 megapixels.

Building The Roman Amphitheatre

From some pictures taken from the Roman Amphitheatre, Trieste, Italy, i try to reconstruct a 3d faithful to reality as textures and as proportions .
The semiautomatic process converts simple photos with solid textures. This is one of the experiments that I made after I was passionate to the theme of architectural photomodelling.
